Valentine Party Thank You
Thanks to all who helped with the Valentine Party at park day
February 10th. Consider it a seminar on entertaining in
75 mile per hour winds. Annamae
Thank You Glenda for faithfully bringing the
information board to the park every week.

Elections
WSHE will be going to a few elected positions next year as well
as delegating projects before summer. There will be approximately 25
areas of service for each of you to consider leading or co-chairing.
We are really going to encourage full membership participation as
we organize for next year. Our first and foremost responsibility as
homeschooling parents is our children. By sharing the responsibilities
and rotating certain jobs on an annual basis we can focus on our
individual priorities as well as maintain support for our homeschooling
community. Rotating major leadership roles is vital for the constant
energy needed to run a group our size. Thank you for prayerfully
considering your involvement. -Penny

Directories
Membership directories will not be mailed. If you want your
copy please pick it up at the park or see Penny Hiller

Branching out
A few ladies have taken the initiative to start a new support group.
Groups are born out of differing needs such as common goals,
interests, teaching co-ops, location, friendships, beliefs or security for
young children. We realize our large group cannot meet all needs or
be everyone's cup of tea. If you have the desire and would like
suggestions about starting a new group, give Penny a call at
xxx-xxxx

New Spring Colors!
If you are new to the group, or just have a question, the moms
with the yellow tee shirts are the ones
to ask. This was not a
color draping decision, the shirts are meant to grab your attention!
These ladies will try to answer your questions or
direct you to someone who can.

Thanks to Jolene Kesler for ordering our tee shirts (all colors) this
year. With the "profits" from the tees Jolene purchased
3 books for our library on the facts of life.

Graduation Ceremony
AFHE sponsors a graduation ceremony for 8th and 12th grad students
in may. See information at the kiosk, in the Salt Seller, or ask Penny.
P.S. You're all invited on behalf of Renee Hiller, Graduating Senior.

Mandatory Science Fair
Not really, but we're hoping for a great turnout! Because... why does
it hurt when I bite on tinfoil? Why don't I float in the
bathtub? Why does my stomach growl?

Why are we having a science fair? So that your child can find a
"why" that they can really sink their teeth into. Let them ponder,
experiment, research, observe, conclude and then put it
on display so that we can all learn from it!

Who? The science fair is for all WSHE kids, ages 5 years and up.
Where? Glendale Community Center North, that's
14057 N. 59th Ave. (North of Thunderbird)

When? On Friday, April 23, 1999. Entries should arrive at 11:00am.
We will have an information packet containing detailed guidelines for
each family that has an entry. Registration forms will be available at
the park or call Annamae to make arrangements. The deadline for
registration is March 31st, late registrants will be
subject to the dreaded tin foil demonstration.

If you are unable to participate as an entrant please join us, April
23rd, 1:30pm-4:30pm, to view the exhibits. Because.... What are
dimples? And why is it that only some people have them? Why do
golf balls have them? Why don't beavers get splinters in their mouths
from chewing wood? For answers to these and any science fair related
questions call Annamae at xxx-xxxx or Dee Plueard at xxx-xxxx

Park Day Responsibility
This is a reminder to watch your children at park day. If you see your
children playing with toys that aren't theirs this usually isn't a problem.
But we've had some sand toys 'disappear' lately, and this is a problem.
One child's shoes were found in a trash container. This is taking
clean-up a little too far. Please monitor your children at park day.
We all signed a statement on our registration form that says,
"Parents are responsible for their own children
at all times." Please be responsible.
